Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Previous experience cleaning preferred; training will be provided

  • Janitors must be reliable problem solvers. They should have good time management skills as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision. Janitors, who often interact with staff and the public in the course of their duties, also should possess good communication skills.   • Janitors are responsible for cleaning the interiors and exteriors of schools, office buildings, hospitals, and other public and private facilities.


  • The main duty of a Janitor is providing regular upkeep of a property and or designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling fans, restroom cleaning, surface cleaning, etc.)
  • Gather and empty trash and trash bins
  • Polishing furniture and room accessories as needed
  • Keeping all public spaces neat and tidy
  • Proper labeling, dilution, and use of all chemicals
  • Wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times
  • Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
  • Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects (if applicable)
  • Keep buildings secure by locking doors
  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for lower or major repairs
  • Stock and maintain supply rooms
  • Cooperate with the rest of the staff
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, HIPPA Regulations, Company Rules, Policies and Regulations
  • Be Responsible and keep their tools and equipment in good working order and maintain a clean and orderly supply area

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a janitor
  • Ability to follow verbal directions
  • Reliable and punctual with dedicated professionalism to job and duties
  • Able to adapt to changing schedules or routines; excellent time management skills
  • Pays attention to detail when cleaning
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Organized and able to follow a schedule
  • Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during the daily routine, with ability to stand for long lengths of time; physically able to push vacuum cleaner for extended periods of time; ability to lift up to 25 to 30 pounds
  • General knowledge of cleaning products, supplies, and techniques for cleaning
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays
  • Excellent communication skills with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers. The ability to interact with staff and the public in the course of their duties.
  • Ability to handle cleaning equipment and machinery (if applicable)
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures and practices
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Integrity and ability to work independently
  • Valid California DL or ID
  • High school degree
